In accordance with State and Federal law the Board of Elections has completed the Redistricting of Legislative districts in Sullivan County to reflect population increases or decreases verified by the 2010 census.
Pursuant to NY Municipal Home Rule each Legislative district in Sullivan County should contain a population of no less than 8,050 and no greater than 8,898. To achieve this equalization a commission was formed in 2013 to work with Skyline Consulting, a professional demographics specialist, to ensure that all State and Federal requirements were met prior to the adoption of the final plan by the Legislature in 2014.
On March 18, 2015 the Board of Elections will be issuing letters to any and all voters in the county whose Legislative district, Election district or Poll site has changed. Of the 43,462 voters registered in Sullivan County less than 2,100 households will be affected by these changes. If you do not receive a letter then there has been NO change to your current county representation or location to vote.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact the Board of Elections at 807-0400, Monday through Friday between 9 AM and 5 PM.
