Adult Services   

The Adult Services unit provides a variety of support service for the adult population (over the age of 18) in Sullivan County.  The unit consists of two teams of caseworkers.

Protective Services for Adults (PSA) - The PSA staff is responsible to investigate all reports of abuse, exploitation and neglect of adults who are considered unable to provide for their own safety and well-being. This includes the responsibility for identifying and assisting individuals who are unable to function independently; adults with mental and/or physical illness or disabilities who do not have someone willing or able to help meet their needs.

Personal Care Services (PCA) - These services are provided to Medicaid recipients who are unable to perform certain daily living activities and personal care chores for themselves.  Caseworkers process  Medical Recommendations for Personal Care Services, that have been submitted by a  licensed physician and arrange for the approved services.

Residential Placements for Adults   

Adult Protective case workers provide assistance to the NYS Office of Children and Family Services for the inspection and enforcement of regulations regarding residential facilities in Sullivan County.

The case workers coordinate residential placement services, in appropriate housing, for adults who need supervised living.  Residential placement services are provided to people 18 years of age or older who are mentally and/or physically impaired, in need of a supervised living      situation and who meet specified income levels. Staff can assist  individuals with accessing a family-type adult home, an adult home or a nursing home   placement.
