Office of Fire Coordinator

Sullivan County Bureau of Fire

A Message from the Fire Coordinator
 Greetings to All,

Welcome to February, with the busy month of January behind us I would like to share some information with you.

I would like to thank all of the Fire Chiefs who attended the Fire Chiefs meeting on January 31st. We had a great showing and covered a lot of important topics. If you have any questions on the topics we covered or need assistance from the Bureau of Fire please feel free to contact your Deputy Fire Coordinator or myself.

With the ground hog seeing his shadow we have six more weeks of winter. Please continue watching the weather as temperatures are up and down. Even though we are still getting cold temperatures and snow  we need to continue  watching  the rivers and streams for potential  ice jams, rising water and thin ice.

We had some improvements to the Bureau of Fire by restructuring the Battalions. As you are all aware we added the 6th Battalion and moved some departments around to help better serve the Fire Service.  Having the extra Battalion it will make for a quicker response for the Deputies to get on the scene to assist the Fire Chiefs.  I would like to welcome Deputy Fire Coordinator Charlie Rampe as the new BC-6.

As announced at the Chiefs meeting by Senior Fire Investigator Art Hawker, Terry Mullen FI-15 has retired as a Fire Investigator. I would like to thank Terry for all the years of dedicated service to the Fire Investigation Team. I wish him happiness and good health in the future.

Fire reporting is going well, thank you, if you are having trouble with the reports please contact BC-3 Jack Halchak and he will assist you. BC-3 will also assist you with updating your Fire Department ID’s and TIM’s records.

Training courses are all going well with good attendance, there has been 1 cancellation. By now you should have seen that the winter courses are advertised. The spring courses are being worked on now and will be announced soon.

On the State level there is now a Fire Instructor position open here for Sullivan County. An email with the canvas letter went out to all Fire Chiefs with the requirements. The deadline for the resume is February 23, 2018 which is explained in the letter.

Thank you, Be Safe
